Denville, NJ

All About Denville

Denville is a picturesque community known as “The Hub of Morris County,” a very fitting description for a township located in the heart of one of NewJ ersey’s wealthiest locales. Denville has preserved much of its natural beauty that formed its original appeal: sparkling lakes, ponds, streams, and rustic views of meadows and rolling hills, combined to form one of the area’s most desirable residential locations.

Denville spans 12 square miles surrounded by Boonton, Mountain Lakes, Parsippany-Troy Hills, Randolph, and Rockaway. Interstate Highway 80, as well as Routes 10, 46, and 53 (East Main Street), all cross the township, lending further credence to its motto as “The Hub of Morris County.” Very easy access is provided to the major metropolitan areas via the convenience of the NJ Transit train station, with direct service to Penn Station in New York in about one hour and ten minutes, and Lakeland Bus with local or express service to NYC.

Denville began as a farming community and progressed into a summer resort, its many peaceful lakes providing an attractive escape for city dwellers. Today, those many summer retreats are full-time abodes comprising charming neighborhoods centered on seven lakes including Cedar Lake, Indian Lake, Lake Arrowhead, and Rock Ridge Lake, among others.

The township’s 16,000 residents are a friendly, caring group. Volunteerism is a big part of life in Denville, from joining the volunteer fire department to helping out with youth sports leagues and recreational programs. Whether they are building a playground, cleaning up the river or working on a garden patch to make the township beautiful, clean, and safe, the volunteers are always available for the asking.
